I like being in a place where Black History Month happens on the TV. In a America. The construct of promotion, celebration and recognition of any race/people is still quite troubling. While skin colour still matters in post -colonial Caribbean, class, power and money reign. It is a work in progress.
I understand celebrating accomplishments….but………I still dont get it. The same way I do not get BET.

Why is there no white history month? I know. Because the celebration [of any other] be it Latina, Asian) is in juxtaposition to the dominant race. I own the pie all 12 slices, but here take a single piece.

I am so wrong.

(note to self: clarify this thought later today)
